Trolls is a 2016 American live-action/computer-animated hybrid musical comedy adventure film directed by Mike Mitchell, co-directed by Walt Dohrn from a screenplay written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger and produced by DreamWorks Pictures. The film is a live-action adaptation of DreamWorks' 1994 traditionally animated film of the same name. It stars Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Dan Castellaneta, Ashley Tisdale, Seth MacFarlane, Fran Drescher, Bill Fagerbakke, Gilbert Gottfried, Dove Cameron, Ellie Kemper, Steve Buscemi, Jack McBrayer, Zooey Deschanel, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Gordon Ramsay, Josh Gad and Russell Brand.

Plans for a live-action remake to Trolls were confirmed in early 2011. TBD

Trolls premiered on October 8, 2016, at the BFI London Film Festival and was theatrically released in the United States on November 4, 2016, by 20th Century Fox. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, with many praising the performances (particularly Kendrick, Timberlake and Ramsay) and faithfulness to the original animated film, though it also received a few criticism due to the Trolls' cartoony CGI character designs, and its excessive similarity to the original. The film grossed $346 million worldwide against its $125 million budget and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Dan Castellaneta as the voice of Wacky, as well as winning an Academy Award for Best Music, and a Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Actress for Dove Cameron as the voice of Myra.

Plot[]

The Trolls are small, colorful creatures who live in an almost perpetual state of happiness, singing, dancing, hugging, and having fun all day. However, they are discovered by the Ogres, large and miserable creatures who can only feel happy by consuming a Troll. The Ogres imprison the trolls and eat them every year on a special occasion, called "Trollstice". The Trolls, led by their king, King Peppy, with his infant daughter, Princess Poppy, escape through tunnels on the day of Trollstice when Prince Gristle was going to eat his first Troll. Enraged, Gristle's father King Gristle Sr. banishes his Chef, who was in charge of preparing for Trollstice. The Chef promises to leave and find the Trolls himself, while secretly plotting to overthrow the monarchy as revenge for his exile.

Twenty years later, a now-adult Poppy, alongside her three siblings Woody, Katie and Bernard (the latter who unsuccesfully attempts to turn her into a proper princess), and her pet rainbow-colored macaw Audrey, throws a big party to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Trolls' escape, despite the warnings of the over-cautious and egotistical gray troll Branch, who has a secret crush on Poppy (which Katie calls it true love), and his siblings Myra, Archer, Lulabelle, Handy and Sleepy, that loud parties will attract the Bergens. At the party, Branch's warnings come true when the Chef sees the fireworks and kidnaps Poppy's friends, including a "Zen" troll named Creek, whom Poppy is in love with.

Poppy goes on a rescue mission alone, as no other troll is willing to venture towards Ogre Town, and is later joined by her siblings, Audrey, Branch, his siblings and his pet woodpecker Wacky (whom Audrey has a secret crush on), who save her from a group of spiders. Once inside the Ogre king's castle, the gang witnesses the now-King Gristle seemingly eat Creek, but Poppy remains hopeful that Creek survived (which Bernard says to her, "Wow, you seriously have no brains at all, do you?"). They find the rest of the captured Trolls being guarded by a scullery maid named Bridget. Poppy discovers that Bridget is secretly in love with King Gristle Jr. (with Katie recognizing it as true love as well) and offers to help her get a date with the king while trying to confirm if Creek is alive.

While setting Bridget up for the date with a musical number, Branch refuses to sing and triggers an argument with Poppy, revealing that, as a child, his grandmother was captured and got eaten while trying to save him, because his singing compromised his location to the Chef, and that his guilt caused his color to turn from blue to gray. After Poppy comforts him with a hug, the Trolls, Wacky and Audrey help Bridget, disguised under the name of "Lady Glittersparkles", get her date with Gristle Jr. at a roller rink and arcade restaurant and Gristle Jr. agrees for her to come to Trollstice. During this time, Poppy notices Creek being held captive inside the jewel adorning the king's mantle, but Lulabelle and Bernard (who both distrust Creek) somehow feel suspicious about him being alive.

Having helped Bridget, the Trolls, Wacky and Audrey try to rescue Creek from Gristle's room and steal his jewel but discover that it is empty. The Trolls are then captured by the Chef, and Poppy is shocked to discover that Creek is betraying them to spare himself from being eaten, which Wacky and Audrey tried to tell them before after talking to a sorceress. Creek lures out every troll from Troll Village (via Poppy's cowbell) and they are captured by the Chef and the other Ogre cooks. With all the Trolls captured, thrown into a pot and soon to be eaten, a heartbroken Poppy falls into despair and loses hope as she and all the other Trolls turn gray.

Encouraged by Audrey, Branch tries to sing "True Colors" for Poppy to cheer her up, confessing his love for her. Poppy, after regaining her colors and realizing that she has fallen in love with Branch, returns his feelings, and they restore all the trolls' colors, including Branch's. Bridget saves the trolls, willing to sacrifice herself. Poppy can't bring herself to abandon Bridget and, with Branch, Wacky, Audrey and their friends, shows Gristle and the Ogres that Bridget is Lady Glittersparkles and that it is not necessary to eat Trolls to be happy, and they too, can find happiness within themselves.

The vengeful Chef refuses to accept the peace and tries to kill the Trolls, but is knocked out by his now-reformed sidekick Dimwit into a serving cart, set on fire, and sent rolling out of Ogre Town with Creek, who is still in his pouch. Both species celebrate, bringing new life to the town. Poppy is then declared queen of the Trolls, and Poppy and Branch share a hug.

In a mid-credits scene, the Chef and Creek's cart stops rolling. The Chef prepares to eat Creek himself, but they soon find out they are on top of a monster, who opens his mouth and eats them both.

Cast[]

Voices/facial motion captures[]

  • Anna Kendrick as Princess Poppy, the cheerful and optimistic but naive and dimwitted princess-turned-queen of Troll Village. Kendrick also voices the film's narrator
    • Iris Dohrn as Baby Poppy
  • Justin Timberlake as Branch, a very pessimist Troll survivalist who has a secret crush on Poppy. He is usually grumpy, over-cautious and egotistical, but is actually revealed to be nicer, kinder and friendly back then.
    • Liam Henry as Young Branch
  • Dan Castellaneta as Wacky, a woodpecker who is Branch's pet and best friend. He is known to be crazy, fun-loving and a comic relief, but can be generous, kind and helpful. He later falls in love with Audrey.
  • Ashley Tisdale as Audrey, a rainbow-colored macaw who is Poppy's pet and best friend. She is a wannabe singer and a true survivalist like Branch, and she always takes caution of what kind of bad thing happens. She has a secret crush on Wacky and is very protective of him.
  • Seth MacFarlane as Archer, one of Branch's siblings. He is known to be mean and arrogant, and likes to call Poppy and her friends "idiots". But deep inside, he is actually well-meaning, nicer and kinder. He sometimes likes to pull pranks and tricks on other Trolls.
  • Fran Drescher as Lulabelle, one of Branch's siblings. She is cynical and intelligent, and likes to read and study. She can be a bit blunt and sarcastic sometimes, but is actually well-meaning and friendly.
  • Bill Fagerbakke as Sleepy, one of Branch's siblings. He likes nothing more than sleeping, napping, watching TV, reading comic books, and being lazy. Despite that, he likes eating fruit and honey, and is a very good friend.
  • Gilbert Gottfried as Handy, one of Branch's siblings. He is a talented mechanic, engineer, handyman and builder. He always brings a lot of gadgets and tools with him in case they would come in handy.
  • Dove Cameron as Myra, one of Branch's siblings. She is considered the peacemaker of her siblings. She loves nature, animals, bugs and music. She usually takes care of Wacky and Audrey, and fully understands Audrey's secret crush on Wacky. She is Woody's best friend.

Despite his attitude, he is a good friend with a heart of gold.
  • Jack McBrayer as Woody, Poppy's brother. He is considered the comedian of the group, and likes to make sure his family and friends are having a good time. However, he can be very serious and stubborn sometimes.
  • Russell Brand as Creek, a "Zen"-like Troll whom Poppy used to have a secret crush on until she discovers that he is actually a coward, a faker, a liar, and a traitor who is willing to betray all the other Trolls just so he won't be eaten, breaking Poppy's heart and destroying her whole happiness.

Differences from the original film[]

  • Archer, Lulabelle, Sleepy and Handy are reimagined as Trolls living on the Troll village (and as Branch's siblings) instead of forest animals.
    • Archer's hair color is red and his skin color is orange, Lulabelle's hair color is yellow and her skin color is lime green, Sleepy's hair color is unknown (since he always wears his signature sleeping cap) and his skin color is brown, and Handy's hair color is brown and his skin color is white.
    • Due to being Trolls in the remake, Archer, Lulabelle, Sleepy and Handy don't disguise themselves as Ogres. Wacky has neither disguised himself as a Ogre, despite remaining as a woodpecker.
    • In addition to being voiced by comedian Fran Drescher, Lulabelle's personality in the remake is changed, being a cynical and intelligent Troll instead of being a positive and romance-loving rabbit.
  • Wacky is shown living on Branch's bunker, being his pet and best friend.
  • Six new characters are added to the remake;
  • At the start of the film, Poppy is seen with her normal loose hairstyle from the 1994 film, but she is wearing a hairband at the party onwards.
  • The forest's bar scene where Poppy and Branch meet the Seven Animals (as well as the characters of the Crook Badgers) is removed. Instead, Wacky, Archer, Lulabelle, Sleepy, Handy, Myra, Audrey, Woody, Katie and Bernard directly follow Branch when he decides to help Poppy.
  • While in the 1994 film, Lulabelle recognizes Branch's secret crush on Poppy as true love, Katie is the one who recognizes it in the remake.
  • While in the 1994 film, Branch comes up with the plan to enter the tunnels, Handy is the one who came up with it in the remake.
  • The Chef is portrayed as a male character.
  • (reserved for 763492 is back)
  • In the 1994 film, Guy Diamond sneezes out glitter and is fully clothed, while in the 2016 remake, he farts glitter, talks with a highly Auto-Tuned voice, and is always naked.
  • (reserved for 763492 is back)
  • The Chef's song "Bringing My Revenge" is absent.
  • While in the 1994 film, Judie is the one who tries to tell Poppy about Creek being alive is very suspicious, in the 2016 remake, Lulabelle and Bernard are the ones who suspect about Creek being alive.
  • (reserved for 763492 is back)
  • (reserved for 763492 is back)
  • While Poppy is the same like in the original film, she has a fiery temper and can be sarcastic like Branch.
  • While Branch is the same like in the original film, he appears to be more friendlier.
  • While in the 1994 film, Poppy sings "The Sound of Silence" much to Branch and the Seven Animals' annoyance, Wacky, Katie and Myra hum to it in a latter scene much to the gang's annoyance in the remake.
  • In the 1994 film, Branch is the one furiously chasing the Parrot while Poppy chases after him, while in the 2016 remake, Bernard furiously chases the Parrot with Branch while their siblings chase after them.
  • While the Trolls chase the Parrot, Wacky and Audrey meet a sorceress who foretells them an unfinished vision from the future (which was offscreen) of all the Trolls. They try to tell Poppy and Branch about it, but are ignored due to Poppy's plan to help Bridget get a date with Gristle to confirm if Creek is alive (which Wacky nervously calls as "the start of the doomed future"). When Creek confirms to Poppy that he is betraying all of the Trolls, Wacky and Audrey finally reveal that it was the future which the sorceress spoke to them.

  • Contrary to audience opinions, Judie and Reynard do appear in the 2016 remake, but they are reduced to a speaking cameo in three scenes. Unlike all the other animals who appear as Trolls (aside from Wacky), they remain as a fieldmouse and a water rat.

Quotes[]

(After Branch, Wacky, Audrey, Woody, Katie, Bernard, Myra, Archer, Lulabelle, Sleepy and Handy save Poppy from the spiders)

(While the Trolls, Wacky and Audrey are on their quest to save the Snack Pack)

  • Archer: (annoyed with Poppy) Oh, gosh. Do you have to sing and skip this long?
  • Poppy: Well, yeah! I always sing and skip when I'm in a good mood!
  • Bernard: Ugh. Do you really have to be in a good mood?
  • Poppy: Yes, I do! Why wouldn't I be? By this time tomorrow, we'll be able to reach Ogre Town, and I'll be with all my friends! (sighs happily) I sure can't wait to see them again! Oh, I wonder what they're doing right now.
  • Branch: Probably being digested.
  • Woody: (sarcastically) Real reassuring, dude.
  • Poppy: Oh, come on. Don't be ridiculous. They're alive, Branch. I just know it!
  • Branch: When are you gonna learn, Poppy? You don't know anything. The only ones who fully understand is your sister and brothers, and your pet macaw. I wish you would at least be more serious for once. And once the Ogres eat every single one of us, I honestly can't wait to see the look on your face when you finally realize the world isn't all cupcakes and rainbows. Cause it isn't. In fact, the world is a horrible place filled with fear, suffering and despair. Bad things happen, and there's nothing you can do about it. Nothing.
  • Poppy: Hey, that's not true! I know life isn't always cupcakes and rainbows, but I'd rather go through life thinking that it mostly is instead of being all negative like you. I mean, look at yourself. You don't sing, you don't dance... You're so gray all the time! Whatever happened to you...?
  • Branch: (puts a finger to her mouth) Wait! Shh! Be quiet just a moment!
  • Poppy: (whispering) Do you hear something? Is it an Ogre?
  • Branch: (whispering; sarcastically) Maybe it is, or maybe it isn't. (walks ahead a little)
  • Poppy: (stays where she is, looking around carefully, then realizes...) There's no Ogre, is there? You just said that so I'd stop talking!
  • Branch: Maybe.
  • Poppy: (rolling her eyes) Do you seriously think being sarcastic makes your life better?
  • Branch: (thinks for a moment before he smirks) Yes. Yes, it would.

(Everyone tries to contain their laughter while Poppy crosses her arms, grumpily)

(Wacky opens a door where a field mouse is seen inside)

  • Wacky: Uh, hello, Mrs. Mouse. I wanna ask if...

(Wacky accidentally steps on the field mouse's tail. The mouse screams in pain and angrily slaps him)

  • Mouse: What the heck is wrong to you?! Reynard, come over here! An idiotic bird stepped on my tail!
  • Reynard: (offscreen) I'M COMING, JUDIE! (appears; angrily to Wacky) What do you think you're doing?!
  • Wacky: Nothing, sir. My friend Audrey and I were just with our owners Poppy and Branch and other trolls searching for...
  • Reynard: I'll give you a beating, you stupid bird! Keep your hands outta my wife!
  • Audrey: (appears in front of Wacky; angrily to Reynard) HEY! Don't you dare hurt my friend! Cause if you do, you're gonna wish you weren't born!
  • Reynard: (in a teasing way) Oh, and what are you gonna do about it, missy?
  • Audrey: Okay, you asked for it. (starts beating up Reynard before kicking him to the wall)
  • Judie: (gasps in horror) REYNARD! (growls at Audrey) Nobody hurts my husband and gets away with it! (tries to fight Audrey, but Audrey beats her up and kicks her to the wall where Reynard is)
  • Audrey: Never mess with the wrong person. Now, Wacky was trying to tell you something, and I want you to listen to him.

(However, Audrey and Wacky end up being beaten up and violently kicked out of the room)

  • Judie: (offscreen) I hope we'll never see you again, you pair of crazy birds! (shuts the door)
  • Wacky: Sheesh, what a hothead. But... (smiles at Audrey) Thanks for protecting me, Audrey.
  • Audrey: (smiles back at Wacky) No problem, Wacky. Now let's get out of here and find the others before those two obnoxious hotheaded rodents try to kill us.
  • Judie and Reynard: (offscreen; furiously) WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL US?!
  • Wacky and Audrey: Uh-oh. (fly away to Poppy and the others)

(After the Trolls, Wacky and Audrey find the Snack Pack being guarded by Bridget)

  • Handy: Alright guys, let's all hurry back to Troll Village before the maid wakes up. The sooner we get you guys out of here... (he unlocks the cage door and opens it so the Snack Pack can come out)
  • Poppy: The sooner we can save Creek!
  • Branch, Wacky, Audrey, Archer, Lulabelle, Sleepy, Handy, Myra, Woody, Katie and Bernard: What?
  • Bridget: (awake) Hello?

(The Trolls all gasp)

  • Bridget: (sleepy) Is it me you're looking for? (goes back to sleep)

(The Trolls sigh in relief)

  • Archer: That was a close one. (glares at Poppy) Way to say that sentence out loud, you pink idiot.
  • Branch: Look, Poppy. I know you're probably looking for the cupcakes and rainbows here, but we have to be more logical here. Creek's been eaten.
  • Biggie: (freaking out) They put him in a taco!
  • Cooper: (scared) It was horrible!
  • Guy Diamond: Sorry, Poppy. Creek's gone.
  • Bernard: Besides, how could you possibly think Creek's still alive?
  • Katie: Yeah. We all saw him get eaten.
  • Woody: Yes! Are you dumb or what?!
  • Myra: Yeah! Why do you seriously think he's alive?!
  • Poppy: I don't think he's alive. I know he's alive. One of my closest friends may have been eaten, but I'm still positive that he survived somehow, and that's enough for me. And I thought all of you would understand.

(Everyone looks at her with gulity looks, but change them to annoyed looks)

  • Archer: Uh... Nope. I don't understand idiots like you.
  • Branch: Exactly. I just don't understand you, Poppy. You still always stay positive on things when really, you should be worrying when something negative happens. Don't you get it? Nothing positive ever happens around here! Besides, how it is possible that you're always looking on the bright side? There is no bright side here. None!
  • Poppy: There's always a bright side, Branch. It's like my dad always said: No Troll left behind. It's also how he saved the village twenty years ago. And now, it's gonna be how I save Creek and the village too.
  • Wacky: (pointing at something) Uh, guys. I don't wanna interrupt your conversation, but don't you guys see what's behind us?

  • Archer: (annoyed with Poppy's plan) Oh, boy. Well, you guys are better off doing this without me. I'm just gonna take a break in this little room... (opens the door and it shows Judie having a shower)
  • Judie: (notices him) Ahhh!
  • Archer: (gasps) Oh, god! I'm so sorry. I didn't-- (Judie uses her scrub brush to repeatedly hit Archer on the head) Hey! Ow! Cut it out, will ya?!
  • Judie: GET OUTTA HERE, YOU FREAK! (kicks him out of the room)
  • Archer: (shuts the door; to himself) Ow. Sheesh. Can't that mouse just get out more by understanding what a mistake is?
  • Reynard: (offscreen; angrily) Excuse me, but who are you referring to? And what mistake did you make?! WHO ARE YOU?!
  • Archer: Oh.... Crud. (he runs away back to the others) On second thought, I'm gonna follow this plan.

(While the Trolls, Wacky and Audrey are comforting Bridget, who's crying because Branch refuses to sing, Branch was climbing up to the window with Poppy following after him)

  • Poppy: Branch, what are you doing? You have to sing.
  • Branch: No! I told you, I don't sing anymore.
  • Poppy: Well, you have to do it.
  • Branch: I'm sorry, but I can't.
  • Poppy: No, you can. You just won't.
  • Branch: Fine. I just won't.
  • Poppy: But, Branch! We're all helping Bridget with her date.
  • Branch: I will help, but I'm never gonna sing, and you can't make me!
  • Poppy: (angrily) You have to!
  • Branch: (angrily) I said, no!
  • Poppy: (angrily) Yes!
  • Branch: (angrily) No!
  • Poppy: (angrily) YES!
  • Branch: (angrily) NO!
  • Poppy: (furiouslyYES!
  • Branch: (furiouslyNO!
  • Poppy: (furiouslyWHY NOT?! WHY WON'T YOU SING?!
  • Branch: (furiouslyBECAUSE SINGING KILLED MY GRANDMA, OKAY?!

(Poppy, Audrey, Katie, Bernard, Woody, Bridget and the Snack Pack look at Branch shocked while Wacky, Archer, Lulabelle, Sleepy, Handy and Myra look at him sadly as Branch looks down sadly)

  • Branch: (sadly and depressingly) Just leave me alone. (sits down in sadness)

(When the Trolls find out that Creek is betraying them by sparing himself from getting eaten by the Ogres)

  • Poppy: (shocked and betrayed) What? No!
  • Wacky: See, Poppy? See what I mean? That was what the Sorceress told Audrey and me! Audrey and I were trying to tell you that...
  • Lulabelle: (interrupting Wacky) I knew it! I knew we should've never trusted that monster!
  • Bernard: (to Poppy) Aha! I told you so, my pink idiot of a sister! I told you so! I've been trying to tell you, but you never listen with that thick head of yours! That Creek is 100% evil! Oh, yeah! Take that! Ha ha! Sucker!
  • Poppy: (still shocked) Creek, please don't do this!
  • Creek: (pretending to feel sorry) Believe me. I just wish there was some other way that won't end with me being eaten.
  • The Chef: (sharpening his knives) But unfortunately, there isn't. Honestly princess, you should've get the other captured Trolls out of Ogre Town when you had the chance. Although, you were very dumb by deciding to go there in the first place. Right, Dimwit?
  • Dimwit: You said it, boss!
  • Poppy: (still shocked) But... I... I... You can't... This can't be happening...
  • Lulabelle: (annoyed; to Poppy) Wake up, Poppy! This is what Wacky, Audrey, Bernard and I were trying to tell you! Creek was helping the Ogres the whole time, and his captive in the King's jewel was really a trap. And he's doing this so the Ogres can eat us. He was trying to fool all of us. He wants to be the only Troll alive. And I knew it for sure that we shouldn't trust him. Because he doesn't care about anyone but himself, and that's just plain selfish! (yells at Poppy's face; furiously) DO YOU HEAR ME, YOU NO GOOD DUMB THICK-HEADED PINK IDIOT?! YOU NEVER THINK ANYTHING! NEVER!
  • Poppy: (to Creek, heartbroken and almost crying) You're betraying us? For real?!
  • Creek: Yes. And now, I have to live with this for the rest of my life. (he then changes his mood to an indifferent and sinister one, revealing that he does not cares about the other Trolls) To be honest, at least you all get to die with a clear conscience. So, in a way... (Poppy gets more shocked) you could just say: I'm doing this for your own good. Oh, one more thing... I don't think you'll need this anymore. (takes Poppy's cowbell out and boops her nose and laughs evilly as he goes to Troll Village with the Chef and Dimwit)
  • Katie: Well, at least we still have each other.
  • Wacky: (to Katie) Got that right.
  • Myra: (pointing at Poppy) Well, I think Poppy is no longer happy anymore.

(Poppy is staring at nowhere, looking like she's about to break down)

  • Audrey: (to Poppy, nervously) Poppy, don't worry... It's gonna be okay... I promise, it'll be okay...
  • Woody: Uh, guys, I think she's gonna blow.

(Suddenly, Poppy gets very angry, while tears fall down to the floor, and is gripping the cage bars really tight, making them break a bit. Everyone looks at her shocked, including Branch)

  • Poppy: (tearfully and furiously) AAAHHH! LET ME GO! WHERE IS HE?! I'M GONNA KILL THAT SELFISH TRAITOR! I can't believe I ever had a crush on him in the first place! (growling) You're dead, Creek! You hear me?! DEAD! I hate you, and I never wanna see you again! There's only one Troll who has always been by my side no matter what, and that's not you! I hope the Ogres decide to change their mind about sparring you, and you get eaten instead, you heartless fraud! You're gonna pay for what you've done to me! Mark my words... YOU WILL PAY!

(Poppy is now fully depressed as she falls to her knees and starts crying, knowing she has failed her people)

(When the Trolls were trapped in the pot by the Chef and Creek)

  • King Peppy: (gasps) Kids? Audrey? (Poppy turns away in depression while Audrey, Katie, Bernard and Woody look at him, as King Peppy comes to hug them) Poppy! Katie! Bernard! Woody! Oh, thank goodness you're all alright.
  • Bernard: Yes, Dad. We're fine.
  • Audrey: I'm not very sure about it. But at least I think that everybody's fine.
  • Woody: Well, I guess so. Considered that we are trapped.
  • Katie: Totally fine. (to Poppy) Right, Poppy?
  • Poppy: (after being hugged) Oh, yeah. I'm doing great. (saddened and sarcastically) I've just got everyone I love thrown in a pot, thanks for asking.

(Branch, Wacky, Audrey, Archer, Lulabelle, Sleepy, Handy, Myra, Katie, Bernard and Woody then watch and are a bit surprised)

  • Biggie: Poppy, are you being... sarcastic?
  • Poppy: (angrily) YES!

(Everyone gasps)

  • Smidge: (shocked) Oh my gah.
  • Wacky: (shocked) Oh snap.
  • Poppy: (sighs; remorseful, to the Trolls) I'm sorry, everyone. I don't know why I'd thought I could save you. Archer was right, I was a total idiot for being happy all the time! All of us were! And Branch was the only down-to-earth Troll, and I never listened to him like I should've done in the first place! It's like he told me, nothing positive ever happens around here! And there is no bright side, none! Even Lulabelle was right when she said that the fact about Creek being alive was actually a trap! And I can't believe I'm stupid enough to fall in love with the wrong boy! Now, everyone's about to be eaten by the Ogres, and it's all my fault. If I had just listened to anyone like I supposed to, then none of this would've happened at all. (to King Peppy) All I wanted to do was keep everyone safe like you did, Dad. (trying not to cry, but feels saddened) But I couldn't... I just made such a fool out of myself.
  • King Peppy: (feeling sorry) Poppy...
  • Poppy: (as she sadly turns away and walks slowly to the middle of the pot) I let everybody down. (she then falls on her knees) Please, forgive me...
  • Branch: (sighs; also feeling sorry) But, Poppy...
  • Poppy: (hopelessly) You were right, Branch. The world isn't all cupcakes and rainbows. It's a horrible place filled with fear, suffering and despair. I wish I believed you sooner before this happened. (a few tears fall down to the floor)

(Moments later, her color begins to fade as the other trolls watch, feeling saddened. Katie starts crying silently while Bernard and Woody hug her)

  • Bernard: Poppy…

(As Poppy's color has faded away, the Snack Pack, Archer, Lulabelle, Sleepy, Handy, Myra, Katie, Bernard, Woody, King Peppy and the rest of the other Trolls also lose their colors as they lose hope. Branch, Wacky and Audrey watch this at fear and sadness)

(Judie and Reynard see Poppy and Branch on the mushroom stage)

  • Judie: So, those two must be those crazy birds' owners, huh?
  • Reynard: I guess so. I still think they're idiots, and their friends too.
  • Judie: I second that. I don't wanna see another idiotic freak in my life.
  • Reynard: Me neither.
  • Myra: (walking over to them) Hi, I'm Myra! You guys must be homeless. Why don't I take you to my place? I'm sure anybody won't mind at all. (ties Judie and Reynard in rope before taking them away)
  • Judie and Reynard: (while being dragged by Myra; horrified) NOOOOOOOOOO!
  • Bernard: (sees what happened) Okay, now things are about to get way more weirder.
