Premise[]

See here: List of Sailor Cat and Sailor Fish characters.

The series revolves the titular anthropomorphic cat and fish duo, lazy and sarcastic feline Sailor Cat (Cat) and happy-go-lucky and dimwitted, yet sometimes clever goldfish Sailor Fish (Fish). They are employed by the short-tempered but good-hearted walrus sailor captain Captain Cap'n and live in the fictional harbor town of Harbor Ahoy, along with other characters including Cat's Hawaiian-native human love interest Honna Lulu; wise-cracking prankster pelican Club; grouchy blue lobster Pincher; mysterious trickster Wacky Moose; and the town's anxious mayor Big Beard. The two would often set for many hilarious adventures, such as finding treasures, outsmarting villains such as the evil pirate Captain Silver Shark, while spending their everyday lives as sailors.

Trivia[]

  • While Sailor Cat and Sailor Fish was Stephen Hillenburg's second series, it was also DreamWorks Television's second animated series to be exclusively produced for Nickelodeon after Catscratch until the show's move to Cartoon Network in 2013 and until then in 2014 to Netflix after DreamWorks signed a multi-year contract with Netflix.
  • Despite ending its run on Nickelodeon in 2012, the channel continued to handle its broadcast rights to pre-2012 episodes until expired in 2018.
  • The character designs to Cat and Fish were based on characters from Hillenburg's previous series SpongeBob SquarePants; Cat was modeled after Squidward Tentacles and Fish was modeled after some of the background fish characters.
  • Unlike SpongeBob SquarePants and most of Hillenburg's other series, the score didn't use music from the APM library. The original score is instead composed by Mark Watters and Walter Murphy.
  • In the episode "Haunted Ship", Teodora from Legend Quest made a cameo.
