Rocky the Shrimp

Rocky the Shrimp is an American Canadian animated edutainment comedy television series created by Stephen Hillenburg. Based on The Intertidal Zone, a comic book series Hillenburg created during the 1980s, the series stars Rocky the Shrimp (voiced by comedian Jay Leno) along with other characters created for the series.

Produced by United Plankton Pictures, Nelvana and DreamWorks Animation Television, the series premiered on Discovery Kids (later known as The Hub and Discovery Family) in TBD 2008 and ended in December TBD, 2014.

Plot

Aimed at 6-12-year-olds, the series is about a talk show set in a fictional underwater television studio run by Rocky the Shrimp, who is the show's host and shows the audience knowledge about marine life along with comical antics and sketches. Besides Rocky, the main characters are friendly and comical Chompy Shark, lazy and chill Selena Sea Nettle, smart, yet somewhat stubborn Flippy B. Dolphin, stressful Harry Hermit Crab, temperamental, but caring Eric Elephant Seal, cool-headed musician Joe the Sponge, straight producer Calina Clownfish, athletic Manny and Mary Marlin, hearty and kind Petey Pelican, wise Stella Sea Turtle, idiotic Prickly Urchin, unlucky extra Nat Peterson (who originally appeared as a speaking background character on SpongeBob SquarePants), TBD, TBD, TBD, TBD, and TBD.

• Calina Clownfish (voiced by Grey DeLisle) - a clownfish who serves as the studio's producer. TBD. TBD. Despite being the voice of reason, she doesn't like acting preachy. According to Hillenburg in a 2012 interview, he created Calina with the idea of creating a "less jerkish and more friendly" version of Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants.
• Manny and Mary Marlin (voiced by Rob Paulsen and Jessica DiCicco) - Two blue marlin siblings who are very athletic. Manny and Mary usually fight with each other, but deep down inside, they care for each other. As a running gag, the characters (usually Rocky or Calina) usually mistake them for swordfish.
• Prickly Urchin (voiced by Jim Cummings) - an idiotic urchin who serves as the show's main comic relief. He is an annoying nuisance to others sometimes. His voice is similar to the titular character from Bonkers.
• Stella Sea Turtle (voiced by Mary Jo Catlett) - a kind and elderly sea turtle who is very wise and TBD
