DreamWorks Home Entertainment is the home media division of DreamWorks Pictures. It was formed in 1982 after a licensing deal with Magnetic Video from 1978 to 1982, under the name DW-Go Fish Video. In 1986, it was renamed to DreamWorks Home Video. Initially the company released titles under a distribution deal with Media Home Entertainment for videocassette until 1986, and Image Entertainment for LaserDisc until 1988. From 1986 to 1997, DreamWorks' films were distributed by MGM/UA Home Video. In 1998, the company assumed its current name, and struck a partnership with Universal Studios Home Entertainment, a deal that would last until 2005. From 2006 to 2011, their films were distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment, DreamWorks Family Entertainment films from 2013 to 2017 were distributed by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and their films aimed at more mature audiences, from 2009 to 2016, were distributed by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment through Touchstone Home Entertainment. DreamWorks was later acquired by Comcast in 2016, and its films were once again distributed by Universal since 2017.
