Alex and Marty is a series of animated cartoons of Dreamtoons produced and released by DreamWorks Pictures from 1950 to 1980. The series follows two mischievous friends, a lion named Alex and a zebra named Marty. It was created by Alex Lovy.
Characters[]
- Alex is a male African lion. Alex is headstrong, protective and self-proclaimed leader of the duo. He's smart, quick thinking and fast on his feet. He is a dancer by nature, often impressing others with his aerobatic feats. He does tend to be a little self-absorbed, often not seeing the problems of others above his own. In the cartoons, Alex is guardian for Marty which he often protects him from various dangers in every situations, such as hunters, predators, traps, TBD.
- Marty is a male plains zebra who is a good friend of Alex. Marty likes seaweed on a stick. In his debut, Marty was portrayed as a dim-witted and timid zebra, but since the 1990s and to this day, his personality was changed into a hopeless optimist; he usually sees the brighter side of many things, taking every situation in stride. He has black and white stripes, a furry coat, a mane, and a tufted tail. Marty is a best friend (but occasionally an enemy in some cartoons) with Alex and the two are rarely at odds. His carefree lifestyle tends to get on the nerves of his friends, but mostly serves to impress them; he is the one who helps hold the group together when things seem to get down.
